Thank You For Vaping

..From Audrey Silk @! NYC Clash:

So Reason Magazine is co-hosting an event with Henley Vaporium (donors to the e-cig lawsuit fund too) in Manhattan tonight (Mon.) called "Thank You for Vaping." Reason has plans to interview me while I'm there. But I'll also have with me a jar and this sign:

...and for those of us who live in or near NYC, the event details are as follows:

On April 29, NYC will ban e-cigarettes in bars, restaurants, clubs and public places.

On April 28, the eve of the ban, we invite you to taunt the prohibitionists: Listen to prominent critics of e-cig regulation, listen to music from a live DJ, and carry on vaping after midnight to flaunt your disregard for the nanny state!
Join Reason, The Museum of Sex and the Henley Vaporium for a celebration of the important role e-cigarettes can play in reducing harm from smoking and the dangers of NYC’s ban on vaping in public places.

Featuring, at 9.30 pm, Bill Godshall, Director of SmokeFree Pennsylvania, in interview with journalist and Willpower co-author John Tierney (See John’s article about e-cigarettes.) followed by  Talia Eisenberg, co-founder of the Henley Vaporium.

Guest commentators will also include Reason Magazine Editor-in-Chief Matt Welch, along with his co-host of "The Independents", Kmele Foster.

Since 1986, Bill Godshall has advocated policies to protect people from the involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke pollution, reduce tobacco marketing to youth, increase cigarette taxes, preserve civil justice remedies for injured smokers, expand tobacco education and cessation services, and inform smokers that noncombustible tobacco/nicotine products are less hazardous alternatives to cigarettes.  Mr. Godshall worked for the Allegheny County Health Department and the American Cancer Society before founding Smokefree Pennsylvania in 1990, for which he has served as Executive Director. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.

Talia Eisenberg is the co-founder and head creatrix behind Henley Premium Vapor and The Henley Vaporium. A long time smoker and former party girl from her days at the helm of the Lower East Side’s “Heist Gallery”, Eisenberg took a hiatus in Boulder, Colorado which opened her eyes to a cleaner lifestyle where fitness and nutrition helped put her back on track. While trying to rid herself of her last vice, cigarettes, in 2011 Eisenberg stumbled upon an electronic option and despite the device’s shortcomings, used it to quit smoking. This discovery propelled Eisenberg to take action by partnering with experienced entrepreneur Peter Denholtz to develop their own vaping products and launch Henley. Talia is a huge proponent of harm reduction.

                Thank You for Vaping

For those of you amongst us that are lucky enough to attend, please do do have a joyous time sticking up your finger to the man, er...Nanny State.  I wish that I could be there:-)

No smoking or VAPING in your own home

Corte Madera, a town in Marin County, CA has just voted to ban smoking and vaping in multifamily housing units. I would say that this is hard to believe, but given the current (and past) trajectory of all things anti-pleasure, this is not a surprise at all.

They keep on lying about the effects of 2nd hand smoke in order to further their agenda, which is ultimately to have complete control over what people do in their own homes; however, when it comes to the issue of "passive vapor", they don't even have a proper lie to conjugate to the masses that would justify the encouragement of neighbors spying on one another for the sake of enforcement:

Phyllis Galanis of Corte Madera said she used to be a smoker, but believes e-cigarettes are
marketed toward children and secondhand smoke can cause health problems in multifamily units.

Oh, now there is a reason for trampling all over the 4th amendment if I have ever heard one.

What a crazy time we're living in...

WHO Aims to Snuff Out E-cig Use

Good lord. Now the WHO is trying to clobber the nascent e-cig industry out of existence. I think that the days of the WHO being about health, as clearly demonstrated here, are OVER. It is simply unconscionable for a "health organization" such as this to set out to do the exact opposite of its stated mission, which is to save lives.

Here is the general, and recognizable, gist of what we're up against:

Dr Haik Nikogosian, who oversees the secretariat of the FCTC, said that e-cigarettes “could result in a new wave of the tobacco epidemic”

He added that “he felt more importance should be given to the threat posed by electronic cigarettes”, according to the minutes.

A new tobacco epidemic? Now I'm really confused, because I thought (silly me) that the stated purpose of the FCTC was to in fact diminish (not increase) the morbidity associated with smoking combustible tobacco. Being that vaping is not in fact smoking, one would think that the WHO would be encouraging smokers to switch over to vaping and other forms of smokeless tobacco! But, NOOOOOO, that would be counter-intuitive  to their real mission, which is to keep people smoking so that they can continue to stick their noses into our lives whilst getting paid handsomely to do so.

Your health , freedom, and happiness are now a THREAT to the bottom line of health agencies the world over, to their officials, their business buddies, and to their crony bureaucrats who just can't stand the notion of living along side an alternative culture (yes, this is a cultural war as well), got that?

S6939-2013 - NY Senate Open Legislation - Prohibits the sale or provision of any quantity of electronic liquid - New York State Senate

H/T to Russ Wishtart for posting this on We Are CASAA on FB-

Prohibits the sale or provision of any quantity of electronic liquid

Prohibits the sale or provision of any quantity of electronic liquid; defines "electronic liquid" as any liquid composed of nicotine and other chemicals that is sold for use in electronic cigarettes.

It's officially become a full blown war against e-cigarettes and harm reduction now.

Apart from this (most likely) being largely about combustible tobacco $$ and Pharma stocks, some part of me wonders if this particular bill isn't an attempt to kill NYC Clash's and Russ Wishtart's lawsuit against NYC over the newly enacted public vaping ban....

Harm reduction = lost revenue.

It's a sad day. I hope that this dosn't pass.

Molecule From Evil Plant Destroys Cancer Cells

H/T to Nicotine Science and Policy-

The holy grail to curing cancer comes from a tobacco plant?

Holy smoke: tobacco plant shows cancer fighting potential

Now who wants to bet that the mainstream media will bury this story, or, err, just plain ignore it?
