Cultural Relativism Gone Mad

H/T to Neal Roff via Vapers Network-

Get a load of this provision from the EU's TPD pertaining to e-cigarettes :

Article 6 paragraph 4

4. Member States shall prohibit the placing on the market of tobacco products containing the following additives:
(a) vitamins or other additives that create the impression that a tobacco product has a health benefit or presents reduced health risks,

WTF? Vitamins? What's wrong with vitamins? If you're inhaling vitamins only (or not), then how does that imply that it's a "tobacco product"? Furthermore, if the actual science says that it's reduced risk or even healthy, how do they justify the suppression of something that could actually help people?

This hits a nerve, as I've just become interested and intrigued by a new company here in the U.S. that is going to do just that: produce an e-cig with vitamins.

I, for one, like the idea of inhaling vitamins and herbs such as eucalyptus, etc. Maybe that makes me a "witch" of sorts, or maybe even a modern day"heretic", but so what: my body, my business. Vitamins are good for you, as are many herbs, just ask the pharmaceutical industry that takes such painstaking measures to extract the many anti-inflammatory constituents that exist in nature.

Cultural relativism and outright bigotry itself are fast becoming responsible for the premature death of progress and innovation. Literally. Sigh....cultural relativism gone mad.

To learn more about the TPD  and how it affects e-cigarette users, Clive Bates comments .

I'm scared to read about how this directive is going to affect tobacco users and THR. I fear for the worst, given the current political climate and the EU's history of banning lower risk products such as snus. Sigh.

Inhaling your vitamins?

This is interesting.

There is an Australian company that is pushing the boundaries of the e-cigarette as we have come to know it:

In the fall of 2013 the company began quietly working on the new product codenamed: "Vita".

"We incorporated a new subsidiary: VitaCig, Inc. trademarked the name"VitaCig", and developed the "VitaCig" - a nicotine-free eCig thatdelivers a water-vapor comprised of vitamins, nutrients, and naturalflavors," mCig's CEO Paul Rosenberg said, in a written statement.

I kind of like the idea of inhaling my vitamins.... In fact, I already do on occasion.

As far as mCig is aware, a product comparable to VitaCig does not exist on the market.

The old adage is true: if you are conjuring up a new idea, someone somewhere is already one step ahead of you. There is a U.S. based company named Blow that currently distributes its own version of a vitamin-based e-juice called Vitamin Smoke. It is an e-juice that is supplemented with Vitamin C, B Vitamins, and Echinacea. I stumbled upon this brand in a smoke shop when I was back home visiting in Chicago a few months ago.  Having never come across anything like it before, I shelled out the cash and bought a few bottles of their e-juice. Not knowing whether or not  I'd like it or not, I gave one of its "tobacco" flavors a try and I have so say honestly that a vitamin supplemented e-cigarette can be quite enjoyable.

The more innovation that takes place, the better for us consumers.

Ok, back to the VitaCig: After doing a bit of searching, I've discovered that the company has also developed a personal vaporizer called the mCig that looks much like a cross between an e-cigarette and a standard vaporizer pen, though instead of e-juice it heats plant material, waxes, and oils.  I have the feeling that vaporizing tobacco is going to become quite popular amongst smokers...eventually. Finding the right kind of tobacco to vape can be tricky however. Creating a tasty tobacco vaping experience is one thing that the San Francisco-based company called Ploom seems to have mastered quite well. Maybe mCig will someday compete with my Ploom pods....we'll see.

I look forward to the day when we can also vape our tobacco along with various anti-inflammatory agents . That day is coming. Too bad CVS will be on the outside looking in.

Someday smokers are going to be the healthiest people in the world! Ahh...Now that's what I would call poetic justice. Don't laugh. It can happen. There was a time when we thought that the world was flat after all.

New Site Books Smoking Only Rooms

H/T to Audrey Silk for posting this on FB-

The site is an online reservation service—founded by a smoker, naturally—that finds smoking rooms in more than 100,000 properties worldwide. We're told it alleviates the hassle of first having to book a hotel and only then find out if there's a smoking room available.

Can This Be Real? New Smoketels Site Sells Only Smoking Hotel Rooms

To be honest, I'm surprised that someone (somewhere) hadn't thought of this sooner. The antis will be up in arms over this of course, but who cares, as it is really none of their business.

You can visit the actual site here.

Happy travels!
