Whopper Of The Day

Here's a bit of information to enlighten us all. Apparently, unbeknownst to the rest of us,  all e-cigarette companies are owned by the devil. Yeppers, it's true, for I read it in the news:

Tobacco companies, which own all the e-cigarette companies, are spending more marketing dollars ....

Now how's that for some accurate reporting? It kind of makes you wonder what else the prohibitionists are wrong about.

  1. Good find, J.
It is hard to know if the lady quoted in the article is deliberately lying or if she is simply quoting from the TC bible. Of course, by doing the second, she is also doing the first, although perhaps inadvertently.
I don't know if you have read this:
THE SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION OF A HEALTH MENACE A CAUTIONARY TALE.
    http://legacy.library.ucsf.edu/action/document/page?tid=myh09e00
It is quite short and shows how, even as long ago as 1992, Tobacco Control was deliberately misconstruing the results of studies about ETS. He gives an example, the details of which are on page 12. Briefly, the authors of a study found statistically significant protective effect for ETS in social situations, tiny effects among spouses, but significant adverse effects among children who grew up in the homes of smokers. The abstract of the study emphasised the children part, claimed that the tiny effects showed harm, but totally ignored the protective effect in social situations.
The author of the piece calls this effect 'Social Bias'.
    Worth a read.
