The Los Angeles Fire Department is being whittled away - latimes.com

To compensate for dwindling resources, the department has been forced to adopt what it calls a "modified coverage plan," a rolling system of "brownouts" — daily closures of fire facilities because the department is stretched so thin.

This is simply unacceptable! It is clear that the politicians who run the city of Los Angeles have no priorities. Example: Instead of using our stimulus money wisely, last year the city, instead of helping the Fire Dept, funneled millions of dollars (via D.C. and our tax dollars) into an anti-smoking campaign. The stimulus $$ was supposed be about preserving jobs and creating new ones. We can start by protecting the damn Fire Dept fer chrissakes. What does that say about the folks who are running the show here?
